Class 1 - Structure & Design Elements

1. Between now and the next class, surf the web a little. As you do, note websites that you like and the others that are not quite up to standard. Make a quick note of the address and why (or why it didn't) appeal to you. Bring your list of sites and ideas to the next class, or better yet, email them to me.

2. Also, design a site using Fireworks or Photoshop. Make decisions about layout: hockey stick or banner. Make decisions about buttons: will they be text? will they be icons?

Class 2 - Layouts & Pages

Between now and the next class, begin creating or convert a pages within your site to use layout tablesor divs. I encourage you to get as complicated as possible. The more cells you create the more experience you will gain. Have several pages created before the next class. Create the links between pages so the site begins to work.

Class 3 - Cascading Style Sheets

Experiment with CSS. Either Work on the CSS for your page or Use the creator here to test out CSS properties.Create a page that uses cascading style sheets to control the font, color, and size of text. Create a style definiton for Heading 1, Heading 2 and plain paragraph text. Store the sheet externally and link it to your page.
